Psychotherapy for
Children, Adults, and Couples

ABOUT

Christina Peters has provided psychotherapy for children, adults, and couples for nearly 30 years. She has helped individuals and families navigate complicated challenges and knows that each situation is unique. Emotional well-being requires more than a checklist. It requires insight and exploration to understand how past and current experiences impact how we respond emotionally, how those experiences shape how we see ourselves and others, and how we develop patterns we are not always aware of.

Psychotherapy offers a platform to gain that understanding and develop the capacity to cope with difficult situations, find one's way towards meaningful relationships, and move forward in areas of your life where you are seeking to go. This is true for adults and couples, as well as children, though the therapeutic process looks different for each.

Christina has a wide scope of experience working with both children and adults dealing with issues such as depression, grief, trauma, anxiety, family conflict, and school or work difficulties. In addition, she has expertise understanding the therapeutic needs for adults, couples, and children with ADHD, executive functioning, and sensorimotor/language challenges, as well as expertise attending to LGBTQIA+ experience, adoption, and unmarried parenting situations.

Christina received her Master's degree from the University of Chicago and her PhD from The Institute for Clinical Social Work. She currently teaches at the Chicago Institute for Clinical Social Work, the Chinese American Psychoanalytic Association, and has presented at local and international conferences.
